The Freehold is Moving!

For the last few weeks I’ve been working on finding a new home for The Freehold. There was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes: getting a domain name, checking out web hosts and content management software. I’m finally in the process of moving to my blog to its new little corner of cyberspace.

Things are still not quite the way I want them. You may find some boxes here and there, and you’ll want to look out for ladders and cans of paint when you’re looking around. I hope my readers will excuse any disarray - and please let me know if there are any broken links or missing content anywhere. I’m doing my best to hunt down the bugs and clean things up!

Please drop by my new digs at http://canhomeschool.com/freehold/ and share a wee cup of tea with me! The new site will have all the good stuff you’ve been enjoying here and at Wordpress; it’s just “my own” place and I can do a little more with it than just change the decor.

If you’ve got any feeds or bookmarks, please update them. The old blog will be here during the transition period, but I’ll probably only be posting to the new one (unless I find myself with oodles of free time!) So to be sure you’re not missing anything, remember to head on over to http://canhomeschool.com/freehold/

I’ll be watching for you at my new place :)

Cheers!

Autistic Child Missing in Montreal

UPDATE: CHRISTINA SAINT-VIL IS SAFE!! (More information)

Christina Saint-Vil
is missing from the Cartierville area of Montreal. She is autistic and may not speak or react like other people her age. Please help: if you see her or have any knowledge of her whereabouts, please call 9-1-1.

Christina speaks French. She is 15, and has been missing since the morning of 25 March 2008. Her picture is at left. Please click on it to view the full image.

This little girl was last seen yesterday at the corner of Emile-Nelligan and Laurentien Boulevard in Cartierville. Her mother dropped her off at the bus stop, thinking she was to return to school after the Easter break. It was, however, a ped day and school was closed. Christina’s mother reported her missing when she didn’t return home at 5pm.

Christina is of African descent with brown eyes and dark hair. She is 1,57 m (5′2″) tall and weighs 54 kg (110 lb.) When she went missing she was wearing a green three-quarter length jacket with fur around the collar, a blue scarf, black pants and boots, and a blue hat.

As the parents of an autistic child who has wandered off, this story hits very close to home for me and hubby. I do urge people who know anything - even if you think it isn’t at all significant - to contact police. You could make a very big difference in bringing this child home safe to her family.

We heard the story of Christina’s disappearance on this morning’s CFCF news, but I had a really hard time finding anything about her on the internet - especially in English. Please help to spread the news, but only post messages if you plan to update them or provide a place where readers can get updates. I am mirroring this entry from Freehold2. You can also find it at Ruby's Star.

This post will be updated when there is any news of the child’s whereabouts. Last updated 10:20 am, 26 March 2008.
